MMK Group receives maximum rating for ESG reporting from AK&M rating agency

MMK Group’s non-financial reporting has received the highest possible rating (RESG 1) for the disclosure of ESG-related information from AK&M rating agency for the fourth consecutive year. Analysts evaluated corporate ESG reporting using a methodology that spans across 97 indicators.

AK&M identified MMK’s ESG reporting for 2024 as the best among metallurgical enterprises, noting its adherence to international standards as well as to the methodological recommendations of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. According to agency experts, the document is well structured, easy to navigate and presented in a laconic, well-thought-out design that helps readers to process large amounts of information.

MMK Group discloses information on its sustainability performance within its annual report, as well as in charts that form part of its digital data collection (ESG Data Pack). As part of its sustainable development pledge, MMK places a particular focus on creating a safe working environment and comfortable living conditions for the surrounding community, as well as creating opportunities for the growth and personal fulfilment of its employees.

The social agenda is a special priority for MMK, as reflected in the Company’s development of infrastructure in the city of Magnitogorsk and support for local communities and charitable initiatives via systemic and targeted investments. A standout project is Attraction – a unique, year-round urban resort – whose initiator and main investor is Chairman of the Board of MMK Viktor Rashnikov.

According to the rating agency, MMK’s reporting stands out for its deep understanding of environmental challenges. The document contains a description of the Company’s environmental projects and their expected impact, as well as mechanisms of emissions control. Other focal points include MMK’s personnel recruitment system and measures to boost energy efficiency.

AK&M has been rating ESG reporting since 2020. Its assessments focus on the presentation of comprehensive ESG-related information in reports, as well as the accessibility of the information disclosed. The agency takes 97 factors into account in its assessments. The main purpose of the rating is to share best practices of information disclosure about companies’ social and environmental activities with the professional community.
