Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee conducted at the Gazprom Headquarters a meeting dedicated to gas supply to the Kaliningrad Oblast.
Present at the meeting were Valery Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, representatives of the Company’s core business units, Gazprom invest Zapad and Giprospetsgaz.
Taking into consideration the high importance of this project for the regional energy sector development, the parties discussed in detail the status of implementation of the plan of actions aiming to boost gas supply to the Kaliningrad Oblast. Special emphasis was put on the Minsk – Vilnius – Kaunas – Kaliningrad gas pipeline expansion, Krasnoznamenskaya compressor station capacity enhancement and Kaliningrad UGS engineering & construction progress. The entire scope of construction work is secured with finance. Contracting companies are ready for operation.
The decision was taken on a flexible management structure for the project aiming to boost gas supply to consumers of the Kaliningrad Oblast according to schedule.

Pursuant to the Minutes of the Meeting “On actions related to gas supply to the Kaliningrad Oblast” held on December 6, 2007 by V. A. Zubkov, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Gazprom developed a plan of actions to secure additional gas supply to the Kaliningrad Oblast by 2010 and up to 2020.
The Kaliningrad UGS construction is included in the Gazprom 2005-2010 Work Program for Underground Gas Storage in the Russian Federation.
The Krasnoznamenskaya compressor station was put into operation in November 2005. At present, there are two compressor units operational. Work is underway to increase the number of units to four.
In 2007 Gazprom supplied the Kaliningrad Oblast with 1.21 bcm of gas and 1.44 bcm is planned to be delivered in 2008.
