MMC Norilsk Nickel’s Accounting Department has been announced as the winner in the first nationwide competition “The Best Russian Accounting Department 2004”.  The company’s Chief Accountant, Lydia Lisitsyna was awarded the title “Outstanding Contributor to the Russian Accounting System”.

The competition was established in August 2004 by the Organising Committee of the International Forum of Accountants and Auditors in cooperation with the Presidium of the Academy of Economics and Finance, and aims to raise the status of the accounting profession and to promote the raising of standards and the quality of work of management and specialists in companies and institutions operating in the areas of accounting, auditing and taxation.

The winner of the competition was determined on the basis of the deliberations of a Council of Experts comprised of leading Russian and foreign academics along with specialists working in accounting, auditing and taxation.
