On October 5, in Cheboksary, there was held a working meeting between the Chairman of the Cabinet of the Chuvash Republic Mr. Sergey Gaplikov and the General Director of IDGC of Volga, JSC, Mr. Vladimir Ryabikin. The parties have discussed the development outlook of the distribution grid complex of the Republic.

One of the most significant matters was the transfer of the Branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC - Chuvashenergo, beginning from 2010, to regulation of tariffs for electric power transmission services, with application of a method of return on invested capital (RAB-regulation). The method of long-term tariff regulation, based on calculation of return on invested capital (Regulatory Asset Base) is a balanced system, which allows to attract considerable investments in the power grid complex due to transparency for investors and guaranteed return of invested funds. In turn, the growth of investments will render favorable influence on development of grid facilities and improved reliability of power supply.

The result of the meeting has become the signing of an agreement on participation of the Branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC - Chuvashenergo - within the territory of the Chuvash Republic in a project of introduction of a RAB-based tariff regulation system in distribution electric grids. The work on preparing to transfer to RAB-regulation of tariffs is also being conducted by the electric grid company in other regions of the area of its responsibility.
