On September 11-13 a Japanese delegation comprising representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Toshiba Corporation and TEPCO electrical utility company made a working visit to the Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Complex, a 100% Atomenergoprom subsidiary. The delegation was accompanied by representatives of State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” headed by Deputy Director General Mr. Petr Shchedrovitskiy.
The visit objective was to learn about Russian uranium conversion and enrichment facilities as part of the implementation of State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” - Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Joint Declaration on Cooperation in the Area of Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy of May 12, 2009.
The representatives of the Japanese delegation attended a presentation featuring JSC AECC activities and its separation technologies used in the production process. The schedule included the delegation’s visit to the chemical and separation plants, Chelnok finished product transfer section, as well as the Complex Central laboratory. The meeting was concluded by a discussion of the status and prospects of Russian-Japanese cooperation in the area of the nuclear fuel cycle.
The guests highly appreciated the industrial safety and environmental activity of AECC, as well as the successful experience of using automated environment control systems in public relations and the practice of publishing annual Environmental Safety Reports. The Director of AECC Mr.Alexander Belousov in his turn emphasized that industrial and environmental safety are constantly treated as a priority area of the enterprise development.
