Popularity of RBC's news resources surges amid increased international tension

Moscow, August 27, 2008 - Information resources of RBC (MICEX, RTS: RBCI) have been demonstrating dramatic audience growth recently, against the background of instability of the western financial system and an exacerbation of Russia's foreign affairs. For example, the daily audience of the company's business Internet portal www.rbc.ru increased on average 1.5-fold in August, while the highest traffic volume registered on www.rbc.ru during the period reached 1.2m users per day. According to RBC's internal statistics, the average number of page views on the portal doubled over the month. RBC has also registered a significant increase in the number of readers of the online version of its daily business newspaper RBC Daily. In addition, the average viewership of the RBC TV business television channel has gone up 30% on a daily basis, according to an audience survey conducted by Tochka Rosta, an independent Russian marketing agency. "Economic and political instability provokes the growth of popularity of quality news resources, because of the higher interest of the audience in the events that happen in Russia. The current situation is no exception: we register significant daily audience expansion and expect that the monthly audience of the company will also grow accordingly. Moreover, as a rule, when the situation stabilizes, the major share of newcomers stays and becomes our core audience. Therefore, we anticipate that in the current, rather difficult geopolitical situation, RBC will strengthen its leadership position among Russian business mass media, thanks to its impartial and comprehensive events coverage", RBC Media General Director Artyom Inutin said.
