Gazprom and SC Rosatom sign General Cooperation Agreement

Today, at the Gazprom Headquarters, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Sergey Kirienko, Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Power Corporation signed a six-year General Agreement of Cooperation.

The Agreement stipulates developing cooperation in the following areas:

– implementing strategic projects for offshore hydrocarbon fields in deep and shallow waters (Shtokman OGCF, fields on the Yamal Peninsula and Far East);

– supplying energy to gas transportation networks for gas deliveries to the Russian Federation regions and for gas exports to Western Europe and South-Eastern Asia;

– coordinating interrelated investment projects;

– creating new technologies, developing competitive (including import-substituting) products for higher efficiency of natural gas and gas condensate exploration, production, transportation, storage and processing.

As part of the General Agreement, Gazprom and SC Rosatom will elaborate a sci-tech cooperation program subject to adjustment on a three-year basis. The parties will also set up a Coordination Committee to coordinate joint actions when executing corporate strategic projects and investment programs.

“A success in implementing Gazprom’s strategic tasks aimed at developing new hydrocarbon production regions is closely linked to a wide application of new technologies and equipment. The cooperation of Gazprom and Rosatom ensures a high level of innovations for the joint projects implementation and enables to successfully resolve the issues of import substitution,” pointed out Alexey Miller.

“A proactive investment policy of Gazprom and high intellectual potential of Russian nuclear enterprises offer ample opportunities for the companies to raise their projects efficiency,” underlined Sergey Kirienko.

Background:

The first General Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Russian Atomic Energy Ministry (later on transformed into Rosatom State Corporation) was signed in December 1999, the second – in February 2003.

Gazprom involves the Rosatom enterprises into developing sophisticated high-tech equipment for its subsidiary companies, in particular, the equipment for the data management systems of the Gazprom production and technological complex, smart technological process sensors in gas production, transportation and processing.

The consolidation of scientific and production potentials of both companies enables to develop and apply in Gazprom’s subsidiaries the equipment and software competitive with their foreign analogues, fosters an increased financial, production and information security of the Gazprom production complex.

Over the period of Gazprom and Rosatom’s cooperation a number of large projects were successfully implemented:

- bringing onstream integrated automated control systems for technological processes in gas production, transportation and processing (Gazprom dobycha Noyabrsk, Gazprom transgaz Ukhta, Gazprom transgaz Surgut, Gazprom pererabotka);

- supplying control systems to more than 29,000 km of gas trunklines.

Rosatom is currently delivering its sensors to gas production and transportation companies of Gazprom.
