The Gazprom Headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Rovnag Abdullayev, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic.

The parties continued their discussion of the crucial issues regarding interaction between Gazprom and Azerbaijan in the oil and gas sector, which had been initiated at the previous meeting in Baku. Special attention was paid to the issues of long-term-cooperation related to the purchases of Azerbaijani gas and performing swap operations.

The parties gave a high appreciation to the bilateral cooperation prospects. 

Background:

Azerbaijan holds up to 1.5 tcm of proven natural gas reserves including the Shakh-Deniz field located in the Azerbaijani offshore sector of the Caspian Sea with recoverable reserves reaching nearly 1.3 tcm of natural gas.

Gas consumption in Azerbaijan accounts for 10-11 bcmpa.
