Christening of new PRISCO tanker of 108,000 tons dwt. will be held at Brodosplit Shipyard, Split, Croatia on September 9, 2004. The tanker will be named in honour of the tragically dead Governor of Sakhalin Oblast Igor. P. Farkhutdinov. Group of PRISCO specialists headed by Mr. Sergey Popravko, General Director of the Primorsk Shipping Corporation will take part at the Ceremony. Members of PRISCO Board of Directors, family of Igor P. Farkhutdinov, representatives of Sakhalin Administration, Russian and foreign partners have been invited. The Board of Directors and Management Board have elected Olga Ivanovna Malakhova to be the Godmother of the vessel. New tanker will be sanctified by Father Daniel, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Kuril Bishop. Crew will be headed by the experienced master Vyacheslav Bulavin. Motor tanker “Gubernator Farkhutdinov” is the second Aframax having been built at Brodosplit Shipyard and the fifteenth tanker included into fleet of the Primorsk Shipping Corporation for the years since the company privatization. It is fully equipped with the up-to-date technical devices which provide the highest speed of loading and safe operations; including bow loading device which can receive cargoes from remote marine terminals. New tanker meets all requirements made to transportation of cargoes in the North, in difficult ice and weather conditions. Valery Gutsol, PRISCO Representative in Split reported the tanker being yet Hull 440 passed sea trials in the middle of August and now Shipyard specialists are making final works. Tanker of the same Aframax type “Sakhalin Island” of 108,000 tons. dwt. was delivered earlier this year in May also by the Brodosplit Shipyard, and now it performs very well at the international freight market, transporting cargoes between European ports. Crew with master Vyacheslav Filippov and Charteres are satisfied with the vessel, it has already been chartered for a long period of time.
