The Gazprom Headquarters has hosted a meeting dedicated to the electrically driven gas pumping units (GPU) utilization at the Portovaya compressor station of the Gryazovets – Vyborg gas pipeline under construction. The meeting was chaired by Alexander Ananenkov, Acting Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.
Attending the meeting were heads and specialists of the core business units of Gazprom, VNIIGAZ, Giprospetsgaz, Yamalgazinvest, top management of Rosenergoatom and Roselectropromholding.
The meeting examined the upgraded conceptual project for the electrically driven GPUs utilization at the Portovaya taking into consideration gas and electricity price forecasts over 2010 to 2025 as well as influence on environment and payments for greenhouse gas pollutions.
In the result of the meeting the Gazprom core business units and its subsidiaries were tasked to make extra calculation aimed at increasing the project efficiency within the electrically driven GPUs utilization.

The Portovaya compressor station is located at the Russian coast of the Baltic Sea in the Portovaya Bay near Vyborg (the Leningrad Oblast). The Portovaya will be a part of the Gryazovets – Vyborg gas pipeline under construction also aimed at supplying gas via the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
The Portovaya will be a unique gas transportation facility with capacity and working pressure unparalleled in Russia. Advanced equipment and modern technologies will be used for construction.
