On working meeting between Alexey Miller and Sergey Katanandov

The Gazprom Headquarters today hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Republic of Karelia.

The parties discussed the progress with the execution of the Cooperation Agreement and the Accord on Gasification of the Republic. In particular, the meeting addressed issues with regard to the construction of gasification facilities for Karelia’s population centres in 2008. Moreover, the parties examined possible gasification options for southern Karelia.

The meeting also focused on the completion of the Petrozavodsk–Kondopoga gas trunkline construction.

Reference:

The Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Republic of Karelia Government was singed in April 2005, the Accord on Gasification – in September 2006. At present, a Promgaz developed draft General Scheme of gas supply to and gasification of the Republic of Karelia is being agreed on in a preset order.

In 2007 Gazprom supplied the Republic with more than 605 mcm of gas. Roughly the same volumes are slated for the current year.

The Republic of Karelia has no gas arrears.

The gasification level of the Republic of Karelia averages 1.8 per cent (versus Russia’s average rate of 62 per cent).

Gazprom intends to deepen its cooperation with the Republic of Karelia. The Shtokman gas and condensate field development plan contemplates constructing a gas trunkline across Karelia with an outlet to Volkhov. So far, public hearings with regard to the environmental impact assessment for the Stockman project were held and approvals were granted in Karelia’s regions along the planned trunkline route.
