The Gazprom Headquarters hosted a meeting of the Gazprom Coordinating Committee for environmental protection. The meeting was chaired by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Head of the Coordinating Committee. Participating at the meeting were Yaroslav Golko, Member of the Management Committee, Head of the Investment & Construction Department; Viktor Ilyushin, Member of the Management Committee, Head of the Gazprom Department for the Relationships with Regional Authorities of the Russian Federation, as well as leaders of the Company’s core units.

The meeting members discussed drafts of Gazprom’s new Environmental Policy and List of high-priority activities related to environmental protection. A decision was taken to submit the mentioned draft documents for the consideration of theGazprom Management Committee.

In the course of the meeting the implementation mechanism of projects aimed at greenhouse gas emissions reduction as part of the Kyoto Protocol was also addressed. Additionally, environmental aspects of Gazprom’s projects in Eastern Siberia and the Far East were considered.

Drafts of the Gazprom’s Environmental Policy and List of high-priority activities related to environmental protection are developed in compliance with the Gazprom Management Committee Resolution of December 21, 2006.

While developing new Environmental Policy, environmental policies adopted by largest international companies were analyzed and relevant experience of largest Russian companies was considered.

The Environmental Policy draft stipulates a sustainable development and environmental preservation as a major principle of Gazprom’s activities. List of high-priority activities related to environmental protection was developed to provide for the implementation of the Environmental Policy commitments.
