“KAMAZ Inc. plans to open a new assembly line in Vietnam”, - said Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc. after the meeting with representatives of VINACOAL, a Vietnamese National Coal Corporation.The meeting was hold in Naberezhnye Chelny by Rustam N. Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Hafiz M. Salikhov, Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Cooperation of Tatarstan, Doan Van Kien, President of "VINACOAL" Corporation, Ildar S. Khalikov, Head of Administration of Naberezhnye Chelny and top managers of KAMAZ OJSC.
Currently KAMAZ Inc. exports to Vietnam over 1000 vehicles annually. KAMAZ share in total sales volume of the latest models has reached up to 70%. Since autumn 2004, when there was signed a license agreement, in Vietnam there have been assembled 310 trucks and now some amount of CKD sets are under way to this country. Today there were signed several contracts providing for delivery of CKD sets in 2Q of 2005 for assembly of another 150 heavy-duty trucks.
During negotiations there was signed a Protocol on Intentions between "VINACOAL" Corporation and KAMAZ Inc. that would help to coordinate their future activities. The Parties plan to develop a new joint project providing for assembly of 5 000 trucks per year in a “Choa Lai” free economic zone of Vietnam.
Tatarstan Government will do its best to support this project. Cooperation between KAMAZ Inc. and "VINACOAL" Corporation will contribute to the integration of other Tatarstan and Vietnamese companies”, said Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan. This is the purpose of presentation of Tatarstan companies and enterprises in Vietnam this autumn planned by businessmen and official bodies from Tatarstan.
