A team of environment experts visited LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez, LUKOIL's wholly owned refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region, today.
The team of experts, including the WWF Russia, the national environmental research institute Ecology and leading environment-protection organizations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, participated in the Industry's Environmental Consciousness round table, attended by representatives of the local government and the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources of the region's legislative assembly. LUKOIL presented a report on corporate environmental responsibility across the company's regions, including Nizhny Novgorod. The Kstovo refinery was the first refinery in Russia to upgrade all of its capacities to produce exclusively environment-friendly Euro-5 motor gasolines and diesels. The refinery uses technologies which prevent air pollution and contamination of soil and waste waters. The environment is monitored, both on the site and adjacent territories, on a daily basis.
"LUKOIL's Nizhny Novgorod refinery monitors the environment against the industry's typical substances on its own and also involving state-owned laboratories. Surveys show that concentrations stay within permissible rates," said Alexey Knizhnikov, Coordinator of the WWF Russia's Program on the Environmental Policies of Fuel-and-Energy Companies.
INFORMATION
