On Monday, March 12, the General Director of OAO Mosenergo, A.Ya. Kopsov, chaired a meeting of the Standing Working Group of Moscow-area power company managers. Information on the development of a power supply plan for the Moscow area to 2030 and three options being studied for ensuring viability of power plants during loss of connections with the power network and restarting the plants «from scratch» was presented at the meeting.
The power supply plan for the Moscow area to 2030 is being worked out by specialists at RAO UES of Russia and OAO Mosenergo, with the cooperation of Moscow City Hall and the Government of Moscow Region. The primary objective of the plan is to work out approaches to maximizing the efficiency of meeting current and future demand for power in Moscow and Moscow Region and to determine priority power plant construction projects.
The power plant viability program envisages a significant reduction in equipment deployment times in the event the plants crash due to the inability to receive power from the 500-kV network by using stand-alone power sources located in a number of OAO Mosenergo’s cogeneration plants.
Participants in the working group included representatives of Moscow Regional Dispatch Control (RDC), OAO MOESK, OAO MGESK, OAO Moscow Heating System Company, OGK-1, OGK-4, and GidroOGK.
