The total amount of investments in development of the grid facilities of the Republic of Komi will amount to 10.5 billion rubles.

Chairman of the Board of RAO UES of Russia Anatoly Chubais and Head of the Republic of Komi Vladimir Torlopov signed the Agreement for development of the power supply system of the Republic of Komi and maintenance of reliable electric power supply of its consumers. The agreement will be in effect till 2012.

Dynamical development of economic and social sphere of the Republic of Komi is accompanied by prompt growth of the power consumption in the region. Thus, in 2007 this indicator increased by 4.5 % in comparison with 2006.

According to the forecast, the power consumption on the territory of the Republic of Komi till 2015 will increase from 30 up to 78 % depending on realization of large investment projects. New power-intensive projects in gas, oil-extracting, wood processing branches, and nonferrous metallurgy will demand development of network facilities of the republic.

The signed Agreement is directed to increase of reliability of power supply of consumers, increase in transmission capacity of networks, creation of conditions for connection of new consumers, liquidation of deficiency of capacity in conditions of growth of power consumption in the Republic of Komi.

The total amount of investments into development of the grid facilities of the Republic of Komi will equal 10.5 billion rubles.
