The 17th Meeting of Operation and Maintenance Subcommittee for Italy-Turkey-Ukraine-Russia Cable System (ITUR O&M SC) has opened in Moscow today. The meeting will last for 3 days, with Rostelecom being an organizer and host party.
During the meeting there will be a number of sessions and discussions devoted to confirmation of operation and maintenance budget for the coming year, Subcommittee reporting on various issues, period results since the time of previous meeting and some current affairs.
The Italy-Turkey-Ukraine-Russia Cable System (ITUR), launched in 1996, is in joint ownership of 36 companies – the Subcommittee members. Its major co-owners and Maintenance Authorities include Telecom Italia Sparkle (TIS), TurkTelecom (TT), Ukrtelecom and Rostelecom.
In line with ITUR General Committee and Maintenance Authorities decision, ITUR O&M SC is headed by Rostelecom. At the moment, the chairman is Vladimir Terekhov, Fist Deputy General Director of the Company.
Rostelecom, as Russia’s national long-distance operator, is constantly enhancing international partnership at various levels. As of today, the Company participates in 30 international cable systems, cooperates with 400 international operators and companies and also takes part in a number of international organizations, including a permanent membership in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as well as a membership in the Telecommunication Operators Board of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC) and the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC).
