To ensure failure-free operations of electric grid system of the Chuvash Republic, specialists of Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) annually implement a special program for clearing transmission line routes. At the moment, vegetation control activities have been completed on the area covering 357.4 ha compared with the annual target of 582.2 ha. In particular, the activities have been completed at 110 kV overhead transmission lines Shumerlya 1,2, Lapsary-1,2, Kabelnaya-Atlashevo, Kanash-Tyurlema, CHP-3-Novaya, Tyurlema-Sviyazhsk and 35 kV overhead transmission line Shemursha-B.Baishevo. Also, planned vegetation control activities are underway at 110 kV transmission lines Kanash-Tingovatovo (Kanash-Dinamo section), Kanash-Tyurlema (Kibechi-Shorkistry section), and 35 kV transmission line Vurnary-Kumashi. Activities at 110 kV overhead transmission line Shumerlya-Algashy, Yadrin-1,2, Alatyr-Buinsk (Buinsk-Kirya section), 35 kV overhead transmission lines Urzhumka-Sosnovka-1,2, Morgaushy-Udarnik, 10 kV overhead transmission line Ibresi-Buinsk (Ibresinsky district) and L-17 from Altyshevskaya substation (Alatursky district) are performed by contractors. For vegetation control activities, specialists use state-of-the-art equipment and machinery utilizing the mulching technology that provides full-cycle vegetation management with complete slash disposal. This technology, with the wood pulp being mixed with the top soil, offers the most environmentally friendly solution. The entire cycle of cleaning, mulching and removal of wood chips can be done in a single step. Apart from clearing transmission line routes, the power engineers of the branch take every effort to raise public awareness, reminding of safe practices of behavior in the areas along and adjacent to the overhead power transmission line corridors. In accordance with these safe practices, it is strictly forbidden to carry out any activities that might disrupt the normal operation of electrical grids or cause damage. In particular, it is strictly forbidden to store petroleum, oil and lubricants, grass, fuel wood or other combustible materials, obstruct access to the electrical grid facilities or make fires under the transmission lines.
