In the Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids Branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti), the final checks of the power grids’ readiness for the work in the period of maximum loads are conducted. To date, the preparatory work has been completed. Specially created commissions assess quality and completeness of all planned organizational and technical measures, the results of the repair campaign, the staff’s readiness for the work in the autumn-winter period, the staffing level of teams, the availability of emergency equipment stock, all necessary tools and materials.
A total of 78 repair teams have been formed at the branch, including 7 field service teams, which are ready to go to carry out emergency repair work to any point in the region, as well as to help colleagues from neighbouring regions. The actions of personnel during emergency recovery work were repeatedly worked out during the emergency response training and exercises, where the branch employees showed a high level of skill, confirmed their competence and readiness for the most effective and efficient work in conditions of technological failures in the power grids. The implementation of the repair program is ahead of the schedule this year.
During the preparation, the employees of Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids repaired more than 654 km of high-voltage overhead lines of 35-110 kV and 1,632 km of distribution networks of high-voltage lines of 0.4-10 kV, 31 high-voltage substations and 661 transformer substations of 0.6-10 kV. More than 20 supports and 2,500 insulators, 550 m of electrical wires and more than 8.5 km of overhead ground-wire cable were replaced on high-voltage power lines. Several large supply centers of the city of Ulyanovsk are among the facilities of the repair program for this year, in particular, “Tsentralnaya”, “Severnaya”, “Avtozapchast”, “Sviyaga”, “Lesnaya”, and “Yuzhnaya” substations, which provide electricity, not only for the residents of different districts of the regional center, but also to a number of industrial enterprises, large shopping centers, socially significant objects: hospitals, schools, kindergartens, sports and recreation centers, etc.
Great importance in the implementation of the repair campaign was given to cutting down wild-growing scrubs and clearing protective zones of overhead lines, designed to prevent technological disruptions in the power grids. This year over 450 hectares of glades have been cleared. From year to year, the high-quality and timely preparation of the power grid facilities for the autumn-winter period is becoming a priority in the work of power engineers. The logical result of the careful preparation invariably remains the receipt of the Passport of readiness for work in the autumn-winter period of 2018/2019.
