Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, a branch of “IDGC of Volga”, OJSC, has started the reconstruction of overhead high-voltage line that provides 110 kV connection between Ulianovskaya and Kremenki 220/110/6 kV substations. Reconstruction of overhead high-voltage line shall imply replacement of ÀÑ-120 aluminum wire with ÀÑ-240 wire of a larger cross section and installation of reinforced galvanized Ó110-2+9 supports. Anticorrosive coating shall enable power engineers to reduce operation costs, since the guaranteed service life shall be extended significantly without additional painting. Overhead high-voltage double-circuit line “Ulianovsk-Kremenki– 1.2” was built almost 50 years ago, in 1963. For the time of extensive operation the equipment has worn and become out-of-date. Total length of the line is 26 kilometers. The reconstruction process will be carried out in several stages. In 2012, they will install 5 new supports of about 40 meters high.
