Power workers of Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) carry out different arrangements aimed at safe production process and control over occupational safety of repair and operational staff. The activities are aimed at preparing subdivisions for performance of work at the operated equipment, preventing industrial injuries and improving employees’ professional skills at performance of the annual repair program. Samara power workers place a particular focus on it, especially during the period of mass repair works. Within the framework of the carried activities with the staff allowed to perform routine switching in the distribution grid complex the company organizes additional lessons on studying routine and repair schemes of distribution grids as well as lessons on how to carry out routine switching, prepare work places and allowing teams to safely operate on electrical installations including operations involving use of specialized software to control proper switching. One of the efficient measures to prevent occupational injuries is to increase control over operating teams. At least two workers representing each production department and administrating staff conduct daily inspections. Samara Distribution Grids implemented a comprehensive program on the injury risks reduction of the personnel of Samara DG, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, and unauthorized persons at the facilities of the power grid complex of the Company for 2014-2017. A set of measures involves check of PPE, provision of the personnel with all necessary equipment and tools, indication of injury risk places and mechanisms, additional training and recurrent instructions, exercising practical skills, and many other activities. Samara branch of IDGC of Volga, JCS organizes ongoing Days of Labor Protection when the special commission checks power grid facilities of all production departments of the branch: Samarsky, Chapaevsky, Volzhsky and Zhigulevcky departments. The commission evaluates whether on-site personnel activities are duly organized and whether occupational safety instructions and equipment operation manuals are in place, the condition of heating systems and elements, availability of first aid kits, prohibitory and warning signs, etc. “Quality performance of repair works requires a lot of preliminary activities which includes a whole set of measures. Electric power supply is a very serious and responsible branch that’s why we place a special focus on organization of safety work environment for personnel", says Konstantin Sanaev, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Volga, JSC, Director of Samara Distribution Grids.
