As part of its investment program Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids (Branch of PJSC IDGC of Volga, Member of Rosseti Group) completed reconstruction of 110/35/10 kV Yazykovo Substation. The substation provides electrical energy to consumers of Karsunsky, Sursky, Mainsky District, their social and residential infrastructure, as well as several cultural heritage sites of Ulyanovsk Region.
The company has completed reconstruction of the 110 kV sectional connecting element, including setup of a switch, current transformer and two disconnecting switches. Additionally, as part of reconstructing the open distribution unit, the workers assembled the current transformer on Yazykovo-Karsun Electrical power transmission line (EPTL), and replaced the 35 kV switch on Yazykovo-Maklaushi Electrical power transmission line (EPTL).
The setup of the section switch will allow to avoid a full shutdown of the substation and the consumers served by the substation in case of a short circuit. The new equipment will automatically switch off the damaged section, keeping the rest of the equipment operational. This will allow to continue uninterrupted transit of electrical energy through that substation, as well as uninterrupted supply of electricity to all the consumers served by the substation.
To protect the electrical equipment from commutation and thunderstorm overload, excess voltage preventors were replaced with voltage supressors. All the installed equipment has automatic failure and shutdown prevention units. This considerably increases reliability of the substation, allows to control the state of the equipment, quickly define and eliminate all the technological failures should they occur at the substation. The substation also has the relay protection and automation equipment, a sectional switch protection and control cabinet, protection monitoring software and hardware complex, which will be subsequently reconfigured and connected to the existing scheme.
